We are constantly exposed to agendas on what we "should look like" or what's "ideal". It's sad these influences manipulate and shape our values, and to be honest we are all guilty of it. But is it our fault? I argue not in the slightest. We are products of our culture, it's all we know, these values our instilled in our DNA. Being aware of it accomplishes little. Deep down we are all influenced.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02985468992620629050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8164824657461407232.post-43021058895900016202014-05-11T20:10:54.022-07:002014-05-11T20:10:54.022-07:00Good post! For instance, the store Aerie, bras and underwear for girls, now advertises unedited pictures. It is a completely different image than other stores give. I hope if enough stores have the bravery to promote and advertise normal size girls that society will soon become less obsessed with weight and perfection. Losing weight or gaining weight seem to be the only options for concern. I have watched a few episodes of The Biggest Loser and Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition and found myself thinking that if the contestants can lose a large amount of weight and get into shape, then I can get into shape just as quickly as they can. Society has put so much pressure on having the "perfect" body type, but it seems like we are either too skinny or need to lose weight which you mentioned. Losing 150 pounds in a short amount of time seems dangerous, and Americans seem to want results immediately otherwise they will quit.
